California Lawmakers Shy Away From Topless Bill

The "Campaign for Children and Families" is declaring victory against what they call the "drop your top" proposal in California. The issue is that as currently written the law in California would require any woman arrested for being merely topfree register on the state's sex offender list. Lawyer Lianna Johnson sought to correct the problem with a bill that would essentially legalize topfree equality. So called family groups voiced opposition using old world puritanical arguments about protecting children that clearly no longer hold water. Even though Johnson found a great many supporters in the California Bar Association, state legislators were harder to sway and none would introduce the bill.
